Arc Raiders Appear Offline Guide for PC Xbox PS5 Users

Sometimes you just want to drop into Speranza, scavenge for resources, and blast some killer machines without your entire friends list pinging you for an invite. We've all been there. Unfortunately, Arc Raiders doesn't actually include a built-in "Appear Offline" toggle right there in the in-game social menu.

Because the game relies heavily on your cross-platform Embark ID to sync up friends across different devices, managing your online visibility can be a little tricky. Standard console and launcher settings can give you mixed results.

If you want to fly under the radar, here is how to set up the best possible workarounds on PC, Xbox, and PS5.

PC Users (Steam)

Setting your status to invisible on Steam blocks your presence for other Steam users, but it might not completely shield you from cross-platform Embark ID friends who are already in-game.

• How to do it: Open up your Steam client, click Friends in the top menu bar, and select Invisible.
• What it does: Your Steam friends will see you as offline, and you will usually show up as offline in their in-game menus too.
• The catch: If you decide to send an invite to someone while you're invisible, your status will instantly flip back to online for that specific session.
  
  

Xbox Series X|S & Xbox PC App Users

Xbox's system-level privacy settings are actually pretty robust and do a solid job of hiding your status from other players on the Xbox network.

• How to do it on Console: Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide, head over to Profile & system, select your profile picture, and switch your status to Appear offline.
• How to do it on the Xbox PC App: Click your gamertag in the top-left corner of the app dashboard and choose Appear offline.
• The catch: While this successfully keeps other Xbox players from seeing you, any linked Epic, Steam, or PS5 friends utilizing cross-play might still see your Embark ID as active if they check their in-game social tab.
  
  

PlayStation 5 Users

If you are on PS5, you can restrict who tracks your real-time gaming activity directly through the console's core privacy dashboard.

• How to do it: Navigate to your PS5 Profile, select Privacy Options, and find the Your Activity section. From there, change "Who can see your online status and what you're currently playing" to No One or Friends Only.
• What it does: This completely restricts your active status on the PlayStation Network.
• The catch: Just like with Xbox, cross-play friends playing on other platforms might still spot your Embark ID account if cross-play is actively engaged.
  
  

The Ultimate Solo Privacy Fix: Disable Crossplay

If you truly want to avoid interruptions while running solo missions and guarantee that your platform-level "Appear Offline" status works flawlessly, your best bet is to temporarily turn off crossplay. This cuts off the cross-platform Embark ID tracking that usually bypasses your console settings.

• Open the Settings menu inside Arc Raiders.
• Navigate over to the Gameplay tab.
• Scroll down to the Online section and toggle Crossplay to Off.
